4-H Honor Club and All Stars
Contact: Amy Willis
The 4-H Honor Club is a statewide organization of outstanding junior high and senior 4-H members. Honor Club members are those who have shown exceptional 4-H project work and a willingness to share what they have learned with other 4-H''ers as a junior or teen leader.
You don''t have to have won a lot of awards to be an Honor Club member... just be an active participant in your local 4-H club or project group. You don''t win membership in the Honor Club, you earn it. You''ll earn points toward Honor Club membership for everything you''ve done as a 4-H member. Participation is the name of the game when it comes to 4-H Honor Club!
And... Honor Club is only the first step in Tennessee''s recognition program for outstanding 4-H members. Senior members can earn a spot in All Stars through their citizenship and community service work. All Stars is the second step leading to the final step of recognition. Vol State is the highest recognition a Tennessee 4-H member can earn, and it all starts with Honor Club.
Honor Club is open to any 4-H’er in the 6th-12th grade. Honor Club members learn about our local community as well as state and national government. Members also participate in service projects to benefit our community. Honor Club is not just work! Members enjoy social activities during the year.

4-H Country Ham Project Group (formerly Heritage Skills)
Contact: Barbara Davenport
Due to modern technology, many of the skills our ancestors used are being lost. The Country Ham Project Group is designed to teach young people the old-fashioned way ham was cured without artificial preservatives. Mr. Bob Woods of G&W Hamery in Murfreesboro teaches the skills needed to cure a country ham. Because this process takes several months, 4-H members learn other skills such as the business and background of the Hamery. Youth learn responsibility by attending meetings in order to achieve their goal and when they win ribbons or prize money it is definitely a positive self esteem builder.
