4-H Home School Club offers students in grades 4-12 a fun, supportive environment where they can build confidence, develop leadership skills, and form lasting friendships with other homeschool youth.
Throughout the year, members participate in engaging, hands-on learning experiences while gaining valuable public speaking and communication skills. Students will learn how to write and present a speech. Then they build on those skills by planning and delivering a demonstration (4th & 5th grade) or interactive exhibit (6th-12th) on a topic of their choice. These experiences help youth develop confidence, organization, and presentation skills that will benefit them both now and in the future.
Club members also have the opportunity to develop leadership skills by serving as club officers, including president, vice president, and secretary. Each meeting is conducted using parliamentary procedure, and members lead the opening and closing ceremonies, including reciting the 4-H Pledge.
Students who enjoy sharing their knowledge may choose to participate in the Rutherford County 4-H Speech Contest, Demonstration Contest, and Poster Contest. Participation in these contests is encouraged but optional.
Homeschool content is being delivered via the 4-H Club + Teen Club + Honor Club. We have expanded the meeting hours so that we have time to be both social and creative, and have time to cover the public speaking and presentation component. We know that many homeschool students attend virtual school online during the day; this will be a nice complement to that.
